Stratford Community Childcare Grant

A recent grant was made to the Stratford Community Childcare. The funds were used to create a space for the children to learn about plants and growing food.

This was their response after receiving the grant and using funds to create their special place

“Thankyou so much for the grant for Stratford Community Childcare. $1500 is a lot of money when it comes to all things gardening.

Things we have purchased with the money are garden beds, long term plants such as blueberries, raspberries, grape vines, passion fruits, strawberries, and gooseberries. Gardening tools for the children such as little gardening forks, spades, watering cans and gardening gloves. Developing our beautiful garden beds have been done with the children through researching what plants we want, buying the materials, and planting. We have a monthly planting plan for our greenhouse that the children are involved in the whole process.

We have also been able to go to the local kai pantry and put excess vegetables in there from our garden.

Having this grant has meant we could turn some ugly and unused spaces in our centre to beautiful spaces that look and are well cared for.”
