Individual Grant Application

The scholarship shall be known as the Ostler’s Gardens Horticulture Scholarship (OGHS).

1. The scholarship shall be open to all students whose parents or caregivers reside in the OGHS area. Preference will be given to those students who attend a school in Stratford.
2. Preference will be given to those students who have completed three years of secondary education.
3. The application must be endorsed by the school principal or senior school teacher.
4. The scholarship is available for students attending any tertiary institution and is available for all students interested in horticulture courses.
5. Each scholarship is worth up to $2,000 per year.
6. Applications for other scholarships will not prejudice applications.
7. If successful, funds will be paid directly to the student’s nominated bank account upon receipt of the relevant paid invoices and statements. The funds may be progressively drawn upon.
8. The scholarship is for course materials / equipment and potentially assistance in travel costs which the trustees may deem to be essential to the course.
9. The scholarship cannot be used for residential hall placement deposits or to purchase mobile phones.
10. Applications from pupils not having completed three years of secondary education but completing an approved apprenticeship may be considered at the trustees’ discretion. This can be actioned at any time during the year, however the applicant must be a student attending school at the time that the application is submitted.
11. Applications open initially in March 2022 and each and every application will be considered on a case by case basis.
12. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the trustees. The trustees decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
13. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application as soon as possible following consideration by the trustees.
14. Electronic applications are preferred but not essential.
15. Only applications which meet the following criteria will be processed:
    1. Applications must be legible and preferably typed.
    2. Letters of support / references must be signed by the referee.
    3. Applications filed electronically must be submitted through the form below OR emailed to us as a single file in PDF format only.
16. Should the scholarship recipient not complete their first year of studies, they agree to return the full amount of the scholarship to the Ostler’s Gardens Charitable Trust.
